Over the past 11 years Totley Open Gardens has raised more than £20,000 for local charities and community organisations. Principal among these is Transport 17, a Totley charity which owns 3 minibuses and takes older people from a wide area around south Sheffield to lunch clubs. It provides an invaluable service to people who are lonely, otherwise housebound and needing social contact.
Other organisations which have benefitted have been Totley Music Festival, and Totley History Group which run a programme of talks, and collects and archives local historical material. Totley Open Gardens has also funded a shelter in Greenoak Park.
