TOTLEY OPEN GARDENS 2010
Totley Open Gardens 2010 was a great success, raising £2,700, which the Open Gardens participants have decided should be donated to Transport 17.
The weather was wonderful the whole weekend, and it brought the crowds out. One garden had 310 visitors over the 2 afternoons.
A new garden opened last year on Butts Hill, the home of Julia Stout and Robert Oldfield. Martin Campion, who opens his garden on Butts Hill did a great job in getting paying ads in the Open Gardens programme. Stuart at the Cross Scythes not only took out an advert in the programme, but also very generously printed the 400 copies free of charge. This was a real boost for us. Two open gardeners also served teas and cakes – Linda Prosser and Mary Hodges, and this helped boost takings as visitors enjoyed some very delicious refreshments.
