Family Fun Day

The Family Fun Day on Saturday 23rd July was a great success.  About 200 people came along to enjoy all the activities.  Children especially loved the land art - making pictures on the ground with natural materials - the pony rides, digging for worms, the sports on the field, the story teller and the ice cream van!  A lot of interest was generated by the pole lathe wood turning, and the saw horse for wood working.  Our vegetables for sale - beetroot, cabbages, broad beans and potatoes - just flew off the table, we couldn't sell them fast enough and there was a demand from local people to sell from site on a weekly basis.  Stallholders generally had a good day, and good for those raising money for charities.  The cafe sold delicious food served by Meals2U, a small catering social business based in New Houghton.

These were some of the comments we received about the Family Fun Day:
"It was nice to have something on our doorstep, and a nice relaxing atmosphere."
"It brings everyone together, my 2 year old is loving the children's activities."
"Everyone friendly and brill activities.  Even my sister enjoyed it!"
"This is the first time for an event like this in Langwith, and I've bought loads of vegetables."
